Mattapan United in the News

Fifty residents gathered in the Blue Hill Library on May 15th to imagine what could happen in the next five years to make Mattapan a safe and healthy community – and the local press noticed.  The "Visioning Meeting" was convened by Mattapan United, a Boston LISC funded group part of the Resilient Communities/Resilient Families Initiative. Consultant Maria Elena facilitated the discussion from brainstorming dreams and possibilities to strategies for achievement.

Boston.com’s Patrick Rosso covered the event in “Mattapan residents share their vision for the community” as did Dorchester Reporter’s Gintautas Dumcius in “‘Mattapan United’ seeking a vision”.

This "Visioning Meeting" was a part of Mattapan United’s ongoing engagement process of collecting input from community members that will go into a comprehensive and action-based plan.  Previous engagement has included 88 one-on-one interviews and a community wide survey that collected over 700 responses.

The next Mattapan United meeting will be a “Give Back Meeting” when Mattapan United will consolidate and share the input they have gathered their engagement activities with the community.
